FAQ
Can you provide transportation to and from our house?
Yes, we have a van service that is coordinated to meet the needs of the family’s schedule. Our drivers escort participants from and to their door and verify that another family member is at home. We pick up within a 10-mile radius of the center.
Do you have a nurse on staff?
Yes, each center has a nurse to administer medications and provide health monitoring on an ongoing basis. Medications to be administered at the center MUST be provided by the family in a pharmacy-labeled container.
What is a day at St. Elizabeth Adult Day Care Center like?
After breakfast, they enjoy an update on the news, craft projects, ring toss games, indoor golf, bingo, trivia, chair exercises, and visiting guests such as librarians, therapy dogs, and trainers. Lunch is a homemade meal prepared in our professional kitchen at the St. Louis location and then driven in hot boxes to the St. Louis Centers. We also provide outings for those that can go off-site.
How can I enroll my family member in St. Elizabeth Adult Day Care Center?
Please call our business office at 314-772-5107 to schedule a tour at the location nearest you. Each applicant is asked to complete our application packet. This can be e-mailed, or each Center will have enrollment paperwork. Included in the application is a Physician Review Form, required by the State of Missouri, and a Child and Adult Care Food Program Form, required as part of our federal food grant. (On this food form please only include the income of the participant and anyone financially dependent on the participant). All forms presented need to be filled out and returned before we set up the start date and arrange transportation if needed. It can take from 10 to 30 days before we give a start date.
Is St. Elizabeth Adult Day Care Center required to be licensed?
Yes, each St. Elizabeth Adult Day Care Center is licensed by the State of Missouri.
Must my family member attend every day of the week?
We find that it is best if participants have a set schedule. The frequency of attendance is set by the needs of the participant and family as well as the payer source.
Can my family member only attend on his/her scheduled days?
No, we try to be flexible to a family’s needs. However, we can best meet needs when contacted in advance, especially if we are providing transportation. We cannot accommodate however if we are at total census that day per our licensure.
Can I bring my family member for a half day or a few hours?
We only provide full-day service. We staff the full day according to the number of participants that will be there. Full-day (8 hours) participation allows the caregiver to tend to business and allows the Participant to get acclimated to their new friends, environment, and routine.
Why would we deny services?
At St. Elizabeth's Adult Day Care Center, the health and safety of all participants are our top priorities. Consequently, there may be situations where specific needs or behaviors could lead to a denial of attendance. In such cases, our staff will assist with referrals to suitable community resources. If the reason for denial is anticipated to be temporary, we will work on a plan to either delay the start of services or reintegrate the participant once their needs can be met.
While we strive to accommodate all clients, some circumstances may necessitate discontinuing or denying services. The following situations may prompt such decisions, and any potential return will be discussed with the client:
-
If the participant requires more than one person’s assistance for daily activities.
-
If the participant’s behavior poses a risk to themselves or others.
-
If the participant requires a feeding tube.
-
If the participant is at a high risk of elopement.
-
If the participant’s behavior necessitates more than one staff member to care for eight participants.
-
One-on-one care is not available.
-
If the participant is not authorized or does not meet the necessary criteria for our services.
